Founded in 2018, ARV Percussion Academy is one of the only organizations in the Arkansas River Valley dedicated exclusively to drum and percussion education. We provide personalized instruction, meaningful performance opportunities, and a supportive learning environment where students of all ages and experience levels can develop their musical abilities with confidence.

From a student's very first drum lesson to preparing for All-State auditions, college auditions, or collegiate marching percussion, ARV Percussion Academy is committed to helping every percussionist achieve their individual goals through expert instruction and a passion for music education.

Our mission is to educate, inspire, and connect percussion students throughout the Arkansas River Valley by providing exceptional drum and percussion instruction while fostering confidence, discipline, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for music.

We believe every student deserves access to specialized percussion education that extends beyond the traditional classroom, creating opportunities for growth both as musicians and as individuals.

Meet the Founder & Director

ARV Percussion Academy was founded by Gavin Green in 2018 with a vision of expanding access to high-quality percussion education throughout the Arkansas River Valley. Recognizing that many students have limited opportunities for specialized percussion instruction outside of school music programs, Gavin established the academy to provide individualized lessons focused exclusively on percussion.

Since 2018, Gavin has taught students in concert percussion, marching percussion, drum set, keyboard percussion, jazz percussion, and Latin percussion. His students have consistently earned placements in Arkansas All-Region and All-State Band, Jazz Band, and Orchestra ensembles while academy alumni have continued their musical careers in collegiate marching bands, percussion programs, and scholarship opportunities across the country.

In addition to private instruction, Gavin is an Official Grover Pro Percussion Artist, music educator, percussion arranger, composer, and performer. His teaching philosophy emphasizes strong fundamentals, proper technique, musicianship, confidence, discipline, and a genuine love for percussion.

Whether working with a beginner picking up drumsticks for the first time or an advanced student preparing for collegiate auditions, Gavin strives to create a positive, encouraging, and challenging learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Meet Our Administrative Coordinator

Audrey Houghton serves as the Administrative Coordinator for ARV Percussion Academy. She oversees day-to-day administrative operations, communication, scheduling, and organizational support while helping ensure every student and family has a welcoming and positive experience.

Audrey is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with concentrations in Acting and Directing at the University of Arkansas–Fort Smith. Her background in communication, organization, and the performing arts allows her to play an important role in supporting the academy and its mission.
